The ‘Allāmah al-Shaykh ‘Ubayd ibn Abdullāh al-Jābirī stated:
This man, Usāmah ibn ‘Aṭāyah al-Falastinī, who nicknamed himself al-‘Utaybī, and Allāh knows best, but I have nothing to do with his lineage. However I say, his affair has reached the level of insanity (al-Junūn), recklessness and rashness, and I advise the people of Libya not to be deceived by him; not the common folk nor the educated ones.

Also, when another questioner inquired about the condition of Usāmah al ‘Utaybī, Shaykh ‘Ubayd replied:
“This man has recklessness with him, bārakAllāhu feek, he’s not stable, and he’s reckless…”
The man continued and said: “O Shaykh should we not connect the brothers with him, only from the aspect of wanting good?”
The Shaykh responded: “No, there are senior brothers, and all praise is for Allāh, who suffice from having to deal with this brother. This man is reckless, displeasing. He loves to get involved in everything.
